The Atlanta Hawks have officially waived two-way guard Seth Lundy, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto. Lundy, who has been recovering from an ankle injury, will be re-evaluated in January, as reported by league sources.

Lundy, the 46th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, saw limited action with Atlanta this season. He appeared in nine games, averaging 1.6 points in 5.8 minutes per contest.

The 24-year-old guard has dealt with injuries since undergoing surgery in May to remove a bone spur. While preparing for a preseason game earlier this year, Lundy re-aggravated his ankle, setting back his recovery timeline.

In the G League last season, Lundy showcased his potential by averaging 20.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. He impressed as a perimeter threat, shooting 40% from beyond the arc on nine attempts per game.

Despite his talent, Lundy’s injury history and limited availability appear to have influenced Atlanta’s decision. The Hawks, who are aiming to strengthen their roster for a playoff push, are likely seeking more immediate contributions from their two-way contracts.

Lundy’s departure opens up a two-way spot for Atlanta, giving the team flexibility to explore options in free agency or call-ups from their G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks.
