The Washington Wizards are reportedly gearing up for major changes ahead of the February 6 NBA trade deadline. According to Marc Stein’s Substack report, the team is expected to shop Jonas Valanciunas and Malcolm Brogdon while also listening to offers for Kyle Kuzma.
Valanciunas, who joined the Wizards this offseason, has been a consistent performer despite the team’s struggles. The 32-year-old center is averaging 12.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 20 minutes per game.
His affordable contract, with two years remaining on a three-year, $30 million deal, has drawn interest, particularly from the Los Angeles Lakers, who are seeking to enhance their frontcourt.
Brogdon, former Sixth Man of the Year, has also provided solid production for Washington. The veteran guard is putting up 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 23.8 minutes per game.
The 32-year-old is on the final year of his two-year, $45 million contract, making him an attractive option for teams looking to bolster their backcourt depth without a long-term commitment.
Kuzma, another potential trade candidate, has been a reliable contributor for the Wizards. The 29-year-old forward is averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while playing 27.5 minutes per game.
Signed to a four-year, $90 million deal last offseason, Kuzma’s scoring versatility and experience make him a valuable target for playoff-bound teams.
The Wizards currently own the NBA’s worst record at 3-19 and sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. With their hopes of contention fading, the organization appears ready to shift focus toward rebuilding around younger players and draft assets.
