Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson expressed his disappointment after the team was dismantled by the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
Johnson took to X, saying, “I’m embarrassed for the Lakers” after they were outclassed 134-93.
The Lakers entered the fourth quarter facing a daunting 32-point deficit, trailing 105-72 to Miami. Johnson was particularly vocal about Tyler Herro’s blistering performance, tweeting, “Tyler Herro was blazing hot hitting 7 threes in the 3rd quarter alone!”
Miami’s 41-point victory marked one of the largest margins in the franchise’s history, the third-largest ever. The Heat also set a franchise record with 42 total assists, demonstrating their complete dominance on both ends of the court.
Tyler Herro starred for Miami, scoring 31 points, including an explosive 21 in the third quarter. He drained nine three-pointers, tying the Heat’s record for any quarter with seven of them coming in the third alone.
Herro’s shooting display was part of a team-wide effort, as the Heat set a franchise record by sinking 24 three-pointers. Jimmy Butler chipped in with 17 points, and Bam Adebayo added 14 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Miami’s bench also contributed heavily, with Terry Rozier scoring 16 points and Kevin Love adding 10.
Miami controlled the game from the outset, stretching their lead to as much as 43 points. The team’s ball movement was key, as 10 players recorded at least two assists. Haywood Highsmith and Duncan Robinson contributed nine assists between them while also playing solid defense.
LeBron James led the Lakers with 29 points, shooting an efficient 12-of-18 from the field, but his efforts were overshadowed by the team’s collective struggles. Los Angeles shot just 22.7% from three-point range and committed 13 turnovers.
Anthony Davis, who has struggled with consistency this season, was held to only eight points on 3-of-14 shooting.
This loss marked the Lakers’ sixth in their last eight games, continuing their disappointing run of form. Miami’s win improved their record to 10-10, while Los Angeles fell to 12-10.
