Jalen Green’s season-high 41 points powered the Houston Rockets (14-6) to a 122-115 overtime victory against the Philadelphia 76ers (3-14) on Wednesday night. Green shot 12-of-20 from the field and added 13 free throws, leading Houston to its 14th win in 20 games.
Alperen Sengun contributed 22 points and 14 rebounds, taking control in the extra period with three critical layups. Amen Thompson provided a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Tari Eason chipped in 14 points off the bench.
Philadelphia, missing Joel Embiid and Paul George due to injuries, relied heavily on Tyrese Maxey, who delivered 39 points, including 28 in the second half. Maxey forced overtime by sinking three free throws with 11 seconds left in regulation but was held scoreless during the extra period.
Green started strong, netting 18 points in the first quarter on efficient shooting. However, the 76ers fought back in the second half, narrowing the deficit with Maxey’s hot hand. Guerschon Yabusele supported Philadelphia’s efforts with 22 points, while Jared McCain added 15.
The Rockets took control in overtime after a corner three by Yabusele briefly gave the Sixers a three-point lead. Green tied the game at the free-throw line before Houston went on a decisive 9-0 run, highlighted by Sengun’s dominance in the paint.
Houston maintained its league-leading rebounding form, grabbing 52 boards to Philadelphia’s 42. The Rockets converted those opportunities into 20 second-chance points, offsetting their struggles from beyond the arc, where they shot just 32.3%.
For the 76ers, depth remains a concern. Outside of Maxey, Philadelphia struggled offensively, with McCain shooting 6-of-19 and Yabusele going 7-of-12. The team fell to 3-14, with 13 of those losses coming in games decided in regulation or overtime.
Houston’s balanced attack featured contributions from Amen Thompson and Tari Eason, with both players delivering crucial plays late in the game. Dillon Brooks, despite a rare scoreless outing, anchored the Rockets’ defense and recorded two blocks.
