Isaiah Hartenstein’s season debut brought a much-needed emotional and physical boost to the Thunder, who have struggled against bigger, more physical opponents due to injuries sidelining their top three big men, writes Joel Lorenzi of The Oklahoman.
Hartenstein, a key free-agent signing, made an immediate impact in his first game, logging 29 minutes off the bench and contributing across the board with 13 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks.
His presence not only solidified the interior but also created a formidable defensive pairing with Alex Caruso, helping to shore up the team’s resistance in the paint.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault praised Hartenstein’s effect on the team, saying, ‘He breathed some life into us,’ a sentiment that underscores the importance of his arrival in a time of need.
With Hartenstein stepping up in such a commanding way, the Thunder may have found a temporary solution to their size disadvantage, giving them hope as they await the return of their other big men.
