Jimmy Butler delivered a season-high 30 points, leading the Miami Heat to a 106-89 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.
Butler’s performance marked his return from an ankle injury and showcased his ability to take over in crucial moments.
The Heat, now 6-7, overcame an early 19-point deficit and held the 76ers to just 16 points in the third quarter.
Tyler Herro contributed 18 points, while Duncan Robinson and Dru Smith added 13 and 10, respectively.
Philadelphia (2-11) struggled to maintain their first-half momentum despite strong efforts from Jared McCain, who scored 20 points, and Paul George, who chipped in 18.
Former Heat player Caleb Martin added 12 points, while Joel Embiid, playing for just the third time this season, recorded 11 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes.
The game’s turning point came late in the second quarter when the Heat closed the first half on an 11-3 run, trimming Philadelphia’s lead to 56-53.
Miami’s defensive adjustments stifled the 76ers in the second half, capitalizing on their shooting struggles. The visitors hit just 24.4% of their three-point attempts, compared to Miami’s 29.5%.
In addition to Butler’s scoring, Miami benefitted from significant rebounding efforts, collecting 53 boards to Philadelphia’s 42.
Bam Adebayo anchored the defense with 13 rebounds and two steals, while Kevin Love added seven boards off the bench.
The Heat’s resilience was evident as they not only erased a large deficit but also built a lead that ballooned to over 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Butler was flawless from the free-throw line, sinking all 13 attempts, and his aggression set the tone for Miami’s offense.
Philadelphia’s injury woes continued, with Tyrese Maxey missing his sixth consecutive game due to a hamstring issue. Embiid’s limited availability this season has also hampered the team’s ability to find consistency.
