Brooklyn Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez shared an optimistic update on Bojan Bogdanovic’s recovery from a foot injury that has kept him out of action to start the 2024-25 season.

Fernandez revealed that Bogdanovic, who was traded to Brooklyn in the offseason, is progressing well in his recovery. While a specific timeline for his return has not been set, the coach expressed confidence in the veteran’s progress.

“He’s progressing well. We’re not gonna give an exact date, but he’s doing good,” Fernandez said, per Erik Slater. “He’s in good spirits, he had a good week, and he was with us on the road.”

Even though Bogdanovic has not been able to play, his involvement with the team has been invaluable. Fernandez highlighted the importance of having the veteran forward around.

“Having him around is very important because he’s a veteran and he’ll talk in huddles, giving the guys tips on what to do during the games,” the coach explained. “His involvement is very important.”

Fernandez also emphasized that Bogdanovic’s engagement with the team shows his commitment to the Nets. “To me, that means that he’s working, he cares, and whenever he’s physically ready, he’ll be good for us,” Fernandez said.

The 35-year-old forward has yet to make his debut for the Nets, but his leadership and experience continue to play a crucial role in Brooklyn’s season.

“I’ve known him since when he was a little kid, he played for Real Madrid, then he came to the NBA,” Fernandez added. “I’m very excited to get to coach him.”

Bogdanovic’s return is eagerly awaited, especially given the current challenges Brooklyn faces. The Nets, sitting at 8th in the Eastern Conference with a 5-7 record, will need all hands on deck as they aim to improve their standing.

While the veteran forward’s return to action remains uncertain, his future with the team could be in flux. Given his expiring contract and Brooklyn’s roster construction, Bogdanovic is viewed as a prime trade candidate before the deadline.
