Los Angeles Lakers star big man Anthony Davis is already dealing with a case of plantar fasciitis in his right foot, which has been an ongoing concern throughout the early part of the season.

Now, Davis has encountered another potential setback after taking a hard hit to his face from Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl during Sunday’s game.

This latest injury compounds the physical toll Davis has endured, as he’s continued to push through multiple issues for the Lakers.

Following Sunday’s game, Davis experienced significant swelling in his left eye, making it difficult to keep the eye open and see comfortably.

In response, he is scheduled to see an ophthalmologist on Monday to assess the injury and determine if further treatment or rest is needed.

Davis has demonstrated considerable resilience, appearing in nine of the Lakers’ first ten games, despite managing the pain and restrictions caused by his foot soreness.

The Lakers have classified him as day-to-day, meaning they will monitor his condition closely before each game and adjust his playing time as necessary.

The team is hopeful he will be ready to play in their next matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, though his availability will depend on his recovery progress over the next couple of days.
