Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick addressed the media regarding Anthony Davis’ eye injury following the team’s 123-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

Davis, who scored 22 points before exiting the game, sustained the injury when Jakob Poeltl’s off-hand inadvertently struck him in the face while attempting a dunk.

Redick gave a brief update on the situation, stating, “I just know that he got poked in it. He was having trouble seeing. Obviously, Take a little trauma to the eye, it takes a little bit of time to sort of get your clear vision back. But other than that, no update.”

Despite Davis’ injury, the Lakers cruised to their victory, with Austin Reaves leading the charge, scoring 27 points. LeBron James also had a standout performance, recording a season-high 16 assists and 19 points. James’ triple-double marked his second consecutive one and the 115th of his career.

Davis’ injury came in the third quarter when he was hit by Poeltl during a block attempt. After heading to the locker room, he was ruled out for the rest of the game.

This season, Davis has been performing at a high level, averaging a career-high 31.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2 blocks per game. His absence for the rest of the game was a cause for concern, but the Lakers managed to secure the win without him.

The Lakers, who improved to 6-4 on the season, will be hoping that Davis’ eye injury is not serious and that he can return to action soon.
