Bronny James made his debut with the G League’s South Bay Lakers on Saturday, scoring six points and committing five turnovers in a 110-96 victory over the Salt Lake City Stars.
The highly anticipated debut drew a sold-out crowd, with notable supporters including his father, NBA star LeBron James, and Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis.
James, No. 55 pick, struggled from the field, shooting 2-for-9 overall and missing all four of his three-point attempts. Despite his shooting struggles, he contributed four assists and three rebounds, finishing the night with a plus-minus of minus-one in the Lakers’ winning effort.
The 20-year-old guard has already appeared in four games for the Los Angeles Lakers this season, though in limited minutes, averaging 0.8 points in 2.8 minutes per game.
His transition to the G League, intended to provide more playing time and development opportunities, represents a new chapter as he aims to build consistency.
