San Antonio’s Jeremy Sochan led the Spurs with 22 points and nine rebounds. Victor Wembanyama contributed 12 points and 18 rebounds, but the Spurs struggled to find consistent scoring throughout the game.

The Rockets faced a brief challenge late in the fourth quarter, allowing the Spurs to close the gap to 101-99 with just 36 seconds left. Veteran Fred VanVleet, who had been struggling with his shot, hit a crucial three-pointer with 18 seconds remaining to help seal the victory for Houston.

Chris Paul had a notable performance for San Antonio, scoring 16 points after struggling in previous games. His resurgence included more aggressive shooting, as he had only scored a combined six points in the first two games of the season.

After an impressive first quarter shooting 60% in their last matchup, the Spurs struggled early in this game. They managed only 32% shooting in the first quarter and fell behind 29-15, setting the tone for Houston’s control.
