Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is set to miss the team’s next two games after suffering a left ankle sprain during their recent matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Curry, who tweaked his ankle in the third quarter, exited in the fourth and was seen heading to the locker room with assistance from teammate Gary Payton II, underscoring the team’s concern as they evaluate his condition.

According to NBA reporter Anthony Slater, Curry’s injury will keep him sidelined for the upcoming two games against the New Orleans Pelicans. Slater tweeted that Curry will be re-evaluated Friday to determine if he can participate in the Warriors’ five-game road trip scheduled to begin next week. Fortunately, initial tests revealed no structural damage, but the Warriors are opting to proceed with caution.

The injury occurred as Curry was averaging 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists in 26.3 minutes over Golden State’s first three games of the season. The Warriors, who currently hold a 2-1 record, will feel Curry’s absence as they continue to integrate new players into the lineup.

In addition to Curry’s injury, the Warriors are also dealing with health concerns surrounding De’Anthony Melton. Slater reported that Melton will also miss the upcoming game against the Pelicans due to right facet inflammation, a back-related issue that previously affected his availability last season. Warriors medical staff are reportedly taking extra precautions to avoid aggravating Melton’s condition.

Melton has been averaging 6.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 16.7 minutes per game.
