Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton didn’t shy away from his scoreless game against the New York Knicks on Friday. Instead, he committed to refining his jump shot and improving his game.

“We just missed a ton of shots, and it starts with me,” Haliburton said. “I ain’t tripping. The great thing about it is tomorrow we don’t play. I’m going to get in the gym and I’m gonna shoot. We’re all gonna shoot, and we’re going to be ready to go on Sunday (against Philadelphia) … I’m gonna get a lot of shots tomorrow. I’m gonna get a lot of shots on Sunday, and I’m gonna be ready to go on Sunday.”

Haliburton has struggled from three-point range to start the season, making just 1 of his 16 attempts from beyond the arc. This has contributed to his overall shooting performance of 6-for-26 from the field, an unusual start for the All-Star guard.

Last season, Haliburton led the NBA in assists with an average of 10.9 per game, but he’s had only nine assists across the Pacers’ first two games. Reflecting on his overall play, the All-NBA guard admitted he didn’t perform well in New York.

“Nah, hell no,” Haliburton said when asked if he felt his performance was solid outside of his shooting. “I just was bad. It happens. I have to be better defensively. I felt like I was alright in my shifts but, again, I should rebound the ball better, take care of the ball better. Just keep us in a rhythm offensively.
