The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Quincy Olivari to a two-way contract, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto. Olivari earned the deal after a strong preseason performance, shooting 57% from beyond the arc. His sharpshooting skills and all-around play have secured him a spot on the Lakers’ roster for the upcoming season.

Olivari, who went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, initially signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Lakers in August. After proving himself in the preseason, the team opted to convert his deal to a two-way contract, giving him the opportunity to split time between the NBA and the G League. This move allows the Lakers to add depth to their backcourt while developing Olivari’s potential further.

Before joining the Lakers, Olivari played four collegiate seasons at Rice University and one at Xavier. At Rice, he led the team in scoring during his final season, averaging 18.7 points per game. He ranked third in Conference USA in scoring, three-pointers made, and minutes played. Olivari’s ability to knock down shots from deep and his rebounding skills made him one of the top players in the conference.

In his final collegiate season at Xavier, Olivari continued to showcase his scoring ability, averaging 19.1 points per game. He also led the Big East Conference in three-point shooting, converting 40.9% of his attempts from beyond the arc. His consistent play earned him Big East Honorable Mention honors, capping off a successful college career.

The two-way deal gives Olivari the opportunity to further develop his skills within the Lakers’ system while also gaining valuable playing time with their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

Olivari played four preseason games for the Lakers, averaging 8.7 points per game. His statistics was boosted after he played 39 minutes in preseason finale against the Golden State Warriors, a lopsided 58-loss in which he scored 22 points.
