The Orlando Magic have converted Mac McClung’s contract to a two-way NBA deal, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. McClung, a two-time Slam Dunk Contest champion, is now set to land a spot on the Magic’s NBA roster after a standout performance in the G League.

McClung originally signed with the Magic in September 2023 but was waived just a month later. After joining the Osceola Magic, Orlando’s G League affiliate, McClung showcased his abilities, earning MVP honors for the 2023-24 G League season. He averaged 25.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists over 27 games, solidifying his status as one of the league’s top talents.

The 25-year-old guard also made history by winning the NBA Slam Dunk Contest for the second consecutive year in February. This victory placed him among elite company, joining legends like Michael Jordan, Nate Robinson, Jason Richardson, and Zach LaVine as the only players to win back-to-back dunk titles.

Orlando re-signed McClung in September, but with the team’s deep roster, he initially didn’t make the cut for the main squad. His two-way contract now allows him to split time between the Magic and their G League affiliate, giving the team flexibility while keeping McClung within reach of NBA action. Under the terms of a two-way deal, McClung can spend up to 50 games with the Magic during the regular season without occupying a full-time roster spot.

This move by Orlando gives the Magic depth at the guard position while offering McClung a chance to continue developing in the NBA. McClung has long been known for his athleticism and ability to score, traits that were on full display during his G League campaign.
