The Portland Trail Blazers have waived veteran guard Devonte’ Graham, just months after signing him to a deal. The move was announced by NBA insider Michael Scotto, following Graham’s brief appearance in two preseason games.
Graham, 29, joined the Trail Blazers on July 31, 2024, in hopes of finding a new role with the team. However, his performance in the preseason games—where he averaged just one point and 2.5 assists in 13.5 minutes per game—led to the team’s decision to move on.
This release comes after Graham’s stint with the San Antonio Spurs, where he played 46 games over the last two seasons. During the 2023-24 season, he averaged 5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 13.6 minutes per game with the Spurs.
Graham’s most productive season came with the Charlotte Hornets in 2019-20, where he averaged career-highs of 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game. That season, he established himself as a key offensive threat and playmaker for Charlotte, but he has struggled to regain that level of performance in the years since.
Known for his shooting ability and solid playmaking, Graham has had an up-and-down NBA career since being drafted in 2018. He has averaged 11.1 points and 4.3 assists over six seasons in the league, playing for the Hornets, Pelicans, and Spurs before joining the Trail Blazers.
