Jayson Tatum reflected on winning his first championship, the pressure of defending the title, and his growing confidence after Denver’s playoff exit, during a recent public appearance to promote his children’s book.

He shared how the victory wasn’t about proving doubters wrong but celebrating with teammates and supporters, calling the championship parade “the best two hours” of his life.

Tatum also admitted to sleepless excitement before Boston’s Finals series and discussed the challenges the Celtics face as defending champions heading into the new season.

“(Coach) Joe Mazzulla, he had a great quote the other day,” Tatum said. “He said, we’re not defending anything. We’re chasing another championship. We enjoyed it all summer.

“… I can’t wait for opening night to get our rings and see the banner being raised. But honestly, after opening night, we have to put it behind us. It’s a new season.”
