Jayson Tatum recently reflected on the joy of winning his first NBA championship, the challenges of defending the title, and more during a public appearance to promote his new children’s book, as reported by Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe.

Although the Celtics are gearing up to start training camp in just a few days, Tatum’s thoughts remain centered on the unforgettable moments from their title-winning campaign.

He described the emotions of lifting the trophy, the camaraderie of the team, and the mindset required to maintain their championship form in the upcoming season.

Balancing the excitement of the past with the determination to repeat, Tatum emphasized the team’s focus on staying sharp and hungry for more success.

“We’ve gotten close a bunch of times,” he said. “We lost in the Finals. There’s a lot of people that doubted us, and I remember thinking about, ‘Man, when we win the championship, I can’t wait to tell everybody that doubted us, that had something to say.’

“But you realize that moment that we won, when the confetti was falling and then the parade, it’s not about the people that doubted you. It’s about you guys, the guys that supported us along the way.

“Everybody that believed in us, and I can honestly say, the parade was the best two hours of my life.”
