Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming sports docuseries Starting 5, which follows five NBA stars throughout the 2023-24 season.
The 10-episode series will showcase LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings, and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.
Starting 5 will premiere on October 9, 2024, and each episode will run for 45 minutes.
The series is produced by James’ media company Uninterrupted, along with Omaha Productions and Higher Ground Productions.
James, Maverick Carter, Peyton Manning, and Barack and Michelle Obama are among the executive producers for the show.
Omaha Productions, led by Peyton Manning, and Higher Ground, founded by the Obamas, bring a strong lineup of producers for the series.
Netflix has previously collaborated with Uninterrupted and Omaha Productions on other sports documentaries, including The Redeem Team and Quarterback.
However, Starting 5 marks the first sports-related production for Higher Ground to stream on Netflix.
The docuseries will offer behind-the-scenes access to the personal and professional lives of the five NBA stars.
The trailer teases glimpses of the players’ training regimens, off-court moments, and their journeys through the 2023-24 season.
The series is directed by Susan Ansman, Trishtan Williams, and Peter J. Scalettar, with Scalettar also serving as the showrunner.
