Veteran forward Rudy Gay, an 18-year NBA veteran, remains hopeful about returning to the court this season.

Despite not playing in the 2023-24 season, the 38-year-old believes his experience is still valuable.

Gay averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1 assist in 14.6 minutes per game for the Utah Jazz in 2022-23.

He recently told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio, “I think a lot of teams need my veteran leadership.”

Gay, the eighth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, has career averages of 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Reflecting on his career, he said, “Basketball is a tough sport. It’s a very mental sport. It’s going young, but I still think there’s value in having vets.”

Gay has had stints with the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, and Jazz.

With about a month until the NBA season begins, Gay is optimistic that a team will call for his leadership.
