The Boston Celtics have agreed to sign Ukrainian center Dmytro Skapintsev to an Exhibit 10 contract, signaling an opportunity for the 26-year-old to compete for a more significant role with the team during training camp.

Exhibit 10 contracts are typically non-guaranteed one-year deals that give players a chance to earn a roster spot, and they come with the flexibility to convert into a Two-Way contract, allowing players to split their time between the NBA and the G League.

Skapintsev will be eligible to earn such a contract depending on his performance during camp.

Represented by agent Michael Lelchitski, Skapintsev is a 7-foot-1 center who made a brief NBA appearance last season, playing in two games with the New York Knicks.

His larger body of work came in the G League, where he was a standout for the Westchester Knicks.

Over the course of 25 games, he showcased a well-rounded skill set, averaging 12.1 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game in 26.6 minutes of play.

His ability to protect the rim, facilitate offense from the post, and contribute on both ends of the floor made him an intriguing prospect for teams looking to bolster their frontcourt depth.

The Celtics, who are looking to solidify their frontcourt rotation behind established big men like Kristaps Porziņģis and Al Horford, see Skapintsev as a potential asset.

With his size, mobility, and shot-blocking ability, he could provide a valuable defensive presence, as well as add versatility to their bench unit.

However, he’ll have to prove himself in training camp to secure a Two-Way contract or a spot on the regular-season roster.
