Serbian center Boban Marjanovic is reportedly leaving the NBA to join Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce for the 2024-25 EuroLeague season.
According to Eurohoops, the 36-year-old will make his return to European basketball after several seasons in the NBA.
Marjanovic’s agent, Misko Raznatovic, hinted at the deal in a cryptic tweet that seemed to suggest a two-year contract worth €2.3 million.
Last season, Marjanovic played 14 games for the Houston Rockets, where he averaged 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game.
This move marks Marjanovic’s return to Europe after his last stint with Crvena Zvezda in the 2014-15 season.
During his time in Europe, Marjanovic established himself as one of the most dominant centers, earning All-EuroLeague First Team honors in 2015.
His addition to Fenerbahce is expected to strengthen their frontcourt as they prepare for a competitive EuroLeague campaign.
Marjanovic’s size and experience make him a valuable asset for Fenerbahce, which continues to build a strong roster under coach Sarunas Jasikevicius.
His career includes stops with several NBA teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Rockets.
Despite his limited minutes in the NBA, Marjanovic remained a fan favorite due to his unique skill set and personality.
Fenerbahce has been active in the transfer market, and signing Marjanovic is a clear signal of their intent to compete at the highest level.
