The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed former Los Angeles Laker Skylar Mays and forward Eugene Omoruyi.
NBA insider Michael Scotto reported the signings via X, adding that both players spent time with different teams last season.
Mays played in 38 games last season, splitting his time between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The 27-year-old guard was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2020 as the 50th overall pick.
Mays began his NBA career on a two-way contract with the Hawks, spending time with their G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks.
During his time in Atlanta, Mays made headlines by scoring a career-high 20 points against the San Antonio Spurs in February 2021.
After stints with several teams, including a 10-day contract with the Trail Blazers, Mays signed a two-way deal with the Lakers last season.
Despite limited minutes, Mays provided valuable depth as he averaged 4.1 points and 2.2 assists per game between his time with the Blazers and Lakers.
The Timberwolves are expected to benefit from Mays’ versatility, which he demonstrated during his time in Portland by averaging 12 points and 8.2 assists as a temporary starter.
Omoruyi, a 6-foot-7 forward, appeared in 43 games for the Washington Wizards last season.
After going undrafted in 2021, Omoruyi signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks but was waived after a season-ending injury.
He then signed a two-way deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder and later inked contracts with the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards.
Last season, Omoruyi averaged 4.8 points and 2 rebounds per game while playing just over nine minutes per contest for the Wizards.
