Kevin Pelton of ESPN decided not to assign a specific grade to Jamal Murray’s new four-year maximum extension but speculates that the Nuggets must have received optimistic reports regarding Murray’s health for them to commit to such a substantial deal.

The contract, which is projected to be worth nearly $208 million, will extend through the 2028/29 season. By securing Murray with this extension, the Nuggets effectively address concerns about the possibility of him leaving as a free agent next summer.

Pelton highlights that if Murray continues to perform at the elite level he showcased last season, the contract will likely be a prudent and beneficial investment for the team, ensuring stability and continuity in their roster.
