Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski is confident in his team’s ability to defy expectations.

In an interview with Laura Britt of NBC Sports Bay Area, Podziemski addressed comments from an anonymous NBA coach, who suggested the Warriors are past their prime.

“We don’t love to hear that, but we love to hear that in the fact that we’re going to do something that no one expects us to do,” Podziemski said.

The second-year player emphasized the team’s motivation to silence critics who doubt the Warriors can maintain their dynasty.

“They don’t think that we’re the Warriors that we were before,” Podziemski explained. “It’s just the best feeling when you don’t have anything to lose and you go out and prove people wrong.”

He expressed confidence in his teammates, including superstar Stephen Curry, saying the team thrives on proving doubters wrong.

“I think there’s a bunch of guys with that mentality. I know Steph is one of those guys,” Podziemski said. “To be alongside him in the backcourt and with all our guys, we’re excited to prove people wrong.”

Podziemski, who was drafted by the Warriors in 2023, is expected to play a bigger role in the 2024-25 season.

The Warriors have faced criticism following roster changes, including the departure of longtime cornerstone Klay Thompson, who joined the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason.

Despite roster shakeups and early-season struggles last year, Golden State finished the regular season with a strong record, securing a spot in the NBA postseason.

However, their campaign ended early with a loss in the NBA play-in tournament to the Sacramento Kings.

This season marks a new chapter for the Warriors, and Podziemski is eager to be part of a squad looking to prove their doubters wrong.

With a mix of veterans like Curry and emerging players like Podziemski, Golden State is poised to surprise those who doubt their ability to contend.

The Warriors’ legacy has been built on championship success, and the team hopes to extend that run in the coming years.

“We’re going to do something special,” Podziemski said confidently.

As the 2024-25 season approaches, all eyes are on the Warriors to see if they can rise above expectations once again.
