Julius Randle and the New York Knicks are set to begin the 2024-25 season without a contract extension in place.

According to Ian Begley of SportsNet New York, the idea of an extension has not been a priority for either side throughout the offseason.

Randle is currently in the third year of his four-year, $117 million contract, which includes a player option for the final year.

Despite the lack of urgency regarding an extension, both parties seem comfortable with the situation as the Knicks’ training camp approaches.

With no indication that negotiations are intensifying, it is expected that Randle will enter the season without a new deal.

Begley noted that unless there is a significant change in circumstances, an agreement before the start of the season seems unlikely.

Randle, who is one of the Knicks’ key players, averaged 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5 assists per game last season.

His production and leadership on the court were pivotal in helping New York secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

At 29 years old, Randle remains one of the most versatile forwards in the NBA, contributing on both ends of the floor.

Although extension talks are not currently a priority, Randle’s future with the Knicks will likely be addressed before his player option year in 2025.
