The Spurs renounced Sandro Mamukelashvili’s rights in July to clear cap space. Despite initial uncertainty, Mamukelashvili re-signed on a one-year minimum deal, praising the team’s growth and hard work. He felt less stressed this summer, noting interest from other teams.
“My first free agency, if you saw me you would have thought I was a dead man walking,” Mamukelashvili said. “I was not sleeping. I’m on Twitter like, ‘What’s going on? Just give me a minimum deal, you know?’”
In his first full season with the San Antonio Spurs in 2023/24, Sandro Mamukelashvili had limited playing time, averaging 4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in just 9.8 minutes per game over 46 appearances, including five starts. As he enters his fourth season, Mamukelashvili acknowledges that his playing time may not see significant increases.
Despite this, the 25-year-old is comfortable with accepting a modest role on the team, understanding that his contributions are valued in the context of the team’s broader goals and player development strategies.
