The Boston Celtics have signed Jordan Schakel to an Exhibit 10 contract, according to a report by Bobby Manning.

Schakel, a 26-year-old shooting guard from San Diego State, is now part of the Celtics’ training camp roster, bringing the total to 21 players.

HE spent the 2023-24 season with the Maine Celtics, where he showcased his shooting ability. Last year, he averaged 13 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1 assist per game, while shooting 41.6% from the field, 40.2% from beyond the arc, and 82.6% from the free-throw line. His performance earned him another opportunity with Boston ahead of the upcoming season.

After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, Schakel began his professional career in the NBA Summer League with the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. He was part of the Kings’ squad that won the 2021 Summer League Championship. Later that year, he signed with the Washington Wizards but was waived before the regular season started.

Schakel then joined the Wizards’ G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go, where he made an impact with his three-point shooting. In 14 games, Schakel averaged 13.8 points and hit 44 three-pointers, leading the G League during that stretch in made threes.

He had a brief stint with the Washington Wizards during the 2021-22 NBA season, signing a 10-day contract before returning to the Go-Go. In March 2022, Schakel signed a two-way contract with the Wizards and appeared in four NBA games.

In 2023, Schakel was traded to the Santa Cruz Warriors before joining the Maine Celtics later that year. His consistent shooting and versatility on the wing have kept him on the radar of NBA teams, leading to his current opportunity with Boston.

Schakel’s signing brings competition to the Celtics’ training camp as they finalize their roster ahead of the new season. An Exhibit 10 contract allows the Celtics to convert his deal into a two-way contract or provide a bonus if Schakel is waived and spends time with the Maine Celtics.

Schakel also spent part of 2024 with Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico’s Baloncesto Superior Nacional, continuing to develop his game overseas.
