Indiana Fever/X

Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark has once again been recognized for her outstanding performances, earning Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for the third consecutive week, as announced by the league today. This accolade follows her previous Player of the Week selections for the periods of August 15-25 and August 26-September 1. Additionally, Clark was named both the WNBA Rookie of the Month and the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for August last week, solidifying her dominance in her debut season.

The Fever recently embarked on a crucial six-game homestand, during which Clark has been nothing short of spectacular. Over the course of three games, she posted impressive averages of 25.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game, guiding Indiana to a 2-1 record. Notably, she made 13 three-pointers during this stretch, setting a new franchise record for the most three-point field goals in a single season, with her tally now at 111 heading into this week.

In Indiana’s victory last Wednesday against the Los Angeles Sparks, Clark notched a remarkable triple-double, recording 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. This achievement made her just the sixth player in WNBA history to record multiple triple-doubles in a career. Clark followed that up with another stellar performance in Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Dream, putting up 26 points and 12 assists, marking her 14th double-double of the season – a new franchise record for most double-doubles in a single season.

As the Fever enter the final stretch of the regular season, Clark is rapidly closing in on history. She is just 53 points shy of breaking Seimone Augustus’s rookie single-season scoring record of 744 points. Furthermore, she recently surpassed 300 assists in only 35 games, setting the record for the fastest player to reach that milestone in league history. Clark currently leads the WNBA in assists with 8.5 per game and also tops all rookies in scoring (19.2 points per game), steals (1.3 steals per game), and minutes played (35.8 minutes per game).

Indiana will continue its homestand with back-to-back games against the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday and Friday, followed by a final regular-season home matchup against the Dallas Wings on Sunday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
