Stephon Marbury recently stated that the Phoenix Suns need a scoring point guard to complement Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal.
Marbury suggested that the Suns should target a player like Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, who he believes could thrive in Phoenix.
“They need a scoring point guard,” Marbury told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio.
Marbury noted that while Haliburton did not play extensively in the Olympics, he has great potential if he adds strength.
“He needs about 15-20 more pounds of solid muscle,” Marbury added, highlighting physical development as key for Haliburton’s growth.
“If he gets stronger? Oh my God, he will be off the hook!” Marbury exclaimed, referring to Haliburton’s future potential.
He acknowledged that while Haliburton shows promise, he currently needs to build more muscle and improve his game awareness.
Marbury emphasized that Haliburton’s playing style, including his ball-handling skills, would fit well with the Suns’ current roster.
The Suns’ current point guards, Tyus Jones and Monte Morris, are known more for their playmaking and defensive abilities rather than scoring.
Marbury’s insights highlight a potential gap in the Suns’ lineup, suggesting that a scoring point guard could enhance their offensive capabilities.
