Cedi Osman declined an offer from the Los Angeles Lakers before signing with EuroLeague champions Panathinaikos.

The 29-year-old Turkish forward had interest from the Lakers but opted to return to Europe after considering his options.

According to Eurohoops, Osman was in advanced talks with Real Madrid but could not finalize a deal with the Spanish club.

The Lakers invited Osman to join their training camp, but there were no guarantees he would secure a spot on the season roster. Osman ultimately chose to sign with Panathinaikos, where he is expected to play a key role.

The move marks a significant shift for Osman, who spent seven seasons in the NBA, most recently with the San Antonio Spurs.

Last season, Osman averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 17.6 minutes per game for San Antonio.

Despite the Lakers’ interest, Osman prioritized stability and consistent playing time in his decision to join Panathinaikos.

Before his time in the NBA, Osman played for Anadolu Efes in Turkey, where he developed a strong reputation as a versatile forward.

His return to Europe is expected to bolster Panathinaikos’ chances in the upcoming EuroLeague season.

Osman’s decision to choose Europe over a potential NBA camp with the Lakers reflects his desire for a more defined role on a competitive team.

Panathinaikos, a perennial EuroLeague contender, will provide Osman with the opportunity to compete at a high level in Europe.
