Evan Fournier, who recently left the NBA to join Olympiacos in Greece, shared his thoughts on the differences between scoring in the NBA and Europe.

Fournier echoed Luka Doncic’s sentiments, explaining why the NBA offers more scoring opportunities than European basketball.

He noted that while NBA players are better individual defenders, the help defense in Europe is much stronger.

“In the NBA, there are better defenders on the ball, players who can chase you faster on the perimeter,” Fournier said, via Eurohoops.

However, he explained that once a player beats his defender in the NBA, it is easier to score compared to Europe.

In Europe, there is always a second or third defender ready to contest a shot after the initial defender is beaten, Fournier explained. This makes it harder for players to get clean looks at the basket in Europe.

Fournier’s comments align with what other European players, including Doncic, have said about the differences between the two leagues.

Doncic, who also played in Europe before joining the NBA, has been vocal about the relative ease of scoring in the NBA due to its different defensive strategies.
