Kenyon Martin expressed his confusion over Jonas Valanciunas’ decision to join the Washington Wizards for the upcoming season.
Valanciunas, who signed a two-year, $30 million contract with the Wizards, left many, including Martin, questioning the move.
Martin, speaking on Gil’s Arena, did not hold back, saying, “What the hell was you thinking boy?” in response to the Lithuanian center’s decision.
The Wizards, who won only 15 games last season, are currently in a rebuilding phase.
Valanciunas spent the previous three years with the New Orleans Pelicans before opting to sign with Washington.
Martin’s confusion comes from the team’s recent struggles, making it unclear why a veteran player like Valanciunas would choose to join.
Another veteran, Evan Fournier, had reportedly received an offer from Washington but declined it.
Instead, Fournier opted to return to Europe, signing with Olympiacos, a decision Martin also referenced.
“You got to watch Jordan Poole shoot that sh*t? Listen, nah,” Martin remarked, explaining why Fournier likely turned down the Wizards’ offer.
