A Western Conference executive recently suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers should consider trading for Zach LaVine. Despite previous rumors linking the Lakers to LaVine, the team has focused on other targets, including LaVine’s teammate DeMar DeRozan.
Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reported the executive’s recommendation. “I’d call Chicago and make a move for Zach LaVine,” the executive said. This advice comes amid speculation that the Lakers might be interested in LaVine, despite no concrete moves being made.
The Lakers have been cautious, opting for roster continuity after their 2023-24 playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets. “Status quo, in terms of roster, was something the Lakers desperately sought a year ago,” Woike noted.
LaVine, currently in the third year of a five-year, $215 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. Last season, he averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, although he played only 25 games due to an injury.
The Bulls might consider moving LaVine if he demonstrates early-season health and increases his trade value. For the Lakers, acquiring LaVine could address their scoring needs and provide a significant boost to their roster.
