Golden State Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski recently revealed that owner Joe Lacob assured him he would not be traded despite persistent trade rumors.

Podziemski’s name had circulated as the Warriors pursued Lauri Markkanen and Paul George during the offseason.

However, the team remained steadfast in not including Podziemski in any potential deals, even when requested by other teams.

During the NBA Summer League, Podziemski crossed paths with Lacob at a Las Vegas Aces game, where Lacob reassured him of his place in the organization.

According to Podziemski, Lacob told him, “You don’t have anything to worry about. You’re a priority here,” affirming the Warriors’ commitment to their young guard, as reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

This reassurance came as a relief to Podziemski, who appreciated the transparency from Lacob and General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Podziemski noted that Dunleavy also informed him that other teams had shown interest, but the Warriors were not willing to part with him.

Podziemski, who averaged 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in his rookie season, felt valued by the organization’s clear communication.

He acknowledged that while being mentioned in trade talks is flattering, the speculation on social media could be challenging.

Podziemski stated, “It’s cool to see you’re valued by another organization in the NBA for such a good player like Markkanen. But at the same time, now that the trade didn’t go through, people on social media look at it like it’s my fault. I don’t have anything to do with it. But it’s cool.”

Despite the noise, Podziemski remains focused on his development with the Warriors, confident in the support from the front office.
