Los Angeles Lakers veteran forward LeBron James might have the opportunity to become an owner of the Boston Celtics in the future.

The Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Boston Red Sox, and RedBird Capital, who have close ties with James, are reportedly contemplating a bid for the Celtics.

Although James, who currently plays for the Lakers, can’t be involved in Celtics ownership at the moment, the sale process is divided into two stages.

Since 49 percent of the team won’t be sold until 2028, there’s a possibility that James could end up owning a stake in the Celtics, particularly as he is expected to be retired by then.
