Potential No. 1 draft pick in 2025, Cooper Flagg, recently faced NBA legend LeBron James in a Team USA scrimmage ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Flagg, who will play his first year of college basketball at Duke next season, participated in these scrimmages featuring NBA players, Americans playing in Europe, and young prospects.
The 17-year-old forward described the experience of playing against LeBron as unforgettable.
Myron Medcalf of ESPN reported that Flagg had to calm his nerves before the matchup, especially when he realized he’d be battling one of his idols.
“It was cool, an unbelievable experience,” Flagg said on “The Brotherhood Podcast,” hosted by his Duke teammate Caleb Foster.
Flagg expressed his admiration for sharing the court with players who have made significant names for themselves.
“I’ve been watching them for years, growing up,” he added.
The young forward admitted he was nervous on the first day and had to “snap out of it” when he found himself guarding LeBron in the corner.
This scrimmage was a significant moment for Flagg, as it gave him the opportunity to measure his skills against top-tier talent.
