Steph Curry has shared his thoughts on Kawhi Leonard’s decision to withdraw from Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Leonard, the Los Angeles Clippers superstar, will not make his senior national team debut despite recent preparations.

USA Basketball confirmed Leonard’s withdrawal, explaining that both he and the Clippers decided he should focus on the upcoming NBA season.

Curry, also on Team USA, addressed Leonard’s withdrawal, expressing understanding and support.

“I know he wanted to play,” Curry said, highlighting Leonard’s desire to join the national team, via Michael Scotto.

Curry emphasized the importance of Leonard’s health, stating, “Hopefully, for the long term, he’s in a good place because the game needs him.”

The four-time NBA champion acknowledged Leonard’s impact on the game, noting, “When he’s not out there, you miss an all-time great player.”

In Leonard’s place, Team USA has selected Derrick White, a recent NBA champion with the Boston Celtics.

This selection marks White’s second stint with Team USA, having played in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

During the 2019 FIBA World Cup, White helped Team USA to a 7th place finish, gaining valuable international experience.
