The Golden State Warriors are facing the end of an era as Klay Thompson departs for the Dallas Mavericks on a lucrative three-year, $50 million deal, ending his 13-year tenure with the Dubs.

The departure also marks a significant change for the Splash Brothers duo. Steph Curry, currently preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics with Team USA, expressed his sentiments about Thompson’s move.

“We would have loved to maintain the core and finish out together …having Klay head on to Dallas — it’s tough,” Curry said, via Malika Andrews. “It’s something I never imagined would be a reality, but you want him to be happy.”

Thompson, known for his sharpshooting and defensive prowess, leaves behind a storied career with the Warriors, including six NBA Finals appearances and four championships.

During his tenure with the Warriors, Thompson formed a formidable partnership with Curry, earning the duo the nickname “Splash Brothers” for their ability to drain three-pointers with remarkable efficiency.

Thompson’s move to Dallas is seen as a strategic acquisition for the Mavericks, bolstering their roster with his scoring ability and playoff experience.

The Warriors, under the leadership of Curry, look to regroup and adjust their strategy heading into the upcoming NBA season without one of their cornerstone players.
