Amid speculation about Brandon Ingram’s future, Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin has addressed rumors of the 26-year-old small forward’s potential departure this offseason.

Ingram, entering the final year of a five-year, $158 million contract, faces uncertainty with the Pelicans reportedly hesitant to extend his deal, making him a trade candidate.

Griffin affirmed Ingram’s desire to remain in New Orleans. “Brandon wants to stay here. He believes in what we’re building. That’s meaningful to us,” he stated, via Will Guillory.

“At the same time, there’s a financial reality that we all deal with. We’re excited about Brandon. We know he’s excited about us.”

Despite trade rumors, Ingram remains a pivotal player for the Pelicans. This past season he averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game this past season.

The Pelicans are navigating a delicate balance between Ingram’s aspirations and their long-term financial strategy.
