NBA insider Chris Haynes has expressed strong confidence that former player JJ Redick will become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Reports indicate that Redick is the frontrunner for the position, and Haynes believes the hiring is nearly certain.
“I will be very surprised if their next head coach is anybody but JJ Redick,” Haynes stated on The Dan Patrick Show. “Everything that I’m hearing is JJ Redick.”
Haynes noted that Redick is already making calls to potential assistant coaching candidates, further indicating his readiness for the role.
“From what I know he’s doing some background, calling some assistant coaching candidates who might be able to join his staff or might not be able to join his staff,” he said. “I’m pretty positive it will be JJ.”
Redick, known for his basketball IQ and on-court leadership, has been reaching out to notable assistants. If hired, Redick is expected to bring in James Borrego, Sam Cassell, and Jared Dudley to join his coaching staff.
Redick’s candidacy has gained traction quickly, with many seeing his potential to inject fresh energy into the Lakers.
