Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki recently expressed his mix of admiration and jest towards Luka Doncic’s record-breaking performances on NBA Unplugged with Kevin Hart.

Reflecting on Doncic’s meteoric rise, Nowitzki humorously lamented the fact that the young star is surpassing his own illustrious records.

“Man, I’m so mad. He’s breaking every one of my records…,” the German legend said, per Jedd Pagaduan of ClutchPoints. “We saw then in year one that the sky is the limit for him. But I honestly didn’t think he could go [where he is now].

“The way he has no offensive holes in his game. He can do it all, he can shoot the stepback, he can go both ways. He can post, he’s got the midrange, he’s got the floater, he’s got the horse shots. He’s got the full package. Every year, I’m saying, ‘This kid can’t possibly get better.’ And then sure enough, next year, he comes back with more in his repertoire.”

Despite his playful frustration, Nowitzki’s admiration for Doncic’s talent is evident, highlighting the latter’s relentless dedication to improving his game.

In his sixth NBA season, Doncic continues to dominate the league, averaging an impressive 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game.
