Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports that Mavericks’ guard Kyrie Irving is diligently observing his daily fast during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Despite abstaining from food and drink for over nine hours, Irving remarkably sank a buzzer-beating shot to defeat the defending champion Nuggets on Sunday.

Ramadan is a special time,” Irving said. “… It’s a difficult journey. To be able to play 48 minutes and do it without having a drink or any food in my stomach is nothing short of a miracle.

Since the commencement of Ramadan, the Mavericks boast a 3-1 record, with Irving showcasing exceptional performance, averaging 27.8 points, 8.5 assists, and 6.5 rebounds per game. This is particularly impressive considering the daily fasting period of 12 hours, highlighting Irving’s resilience and determination.
