The Chicago Bulls big man Nikola Vucevic expresses the difficulty of playing defense in the NBA, attributing it to various factors. According to Vucevic, defending in the NBA has become particularly challenging due to rule changes that favor offensive players.

He points to the impact of the 3-point line, with multiple players capable of shooting threes and creating significant spacing on the court. Vucevic highlights the prevalence of skilled players in the league, making it even more challenging to defend against a variety of offensive threats.

“I think it’s very hard to play defense in the NBA. Part of it is the change of rules where a lot of it was favoring the offensive players,” Vucevic said.

“With the 3-point line now, and everybody’s shooting so many threes and you have at least 3-4 guys that can just shoot threes and get hot at any time. It creates so much space and it’s hard to defend now, especially with all the skill set that’s in the NBA.”
