The NBA has imposed a $35,000 fine on Hawks guard Trae Young for a deemed “inappropriate and unprofessional” action directed at a referee during the fourth quarter of Monday’s defeat against Chicago, as declared in an official press release by the league.
At the 3:58 mark of the game, Young, having missed a three-pointer, tumbled to the court after colliding with Bulls forward Torrey Craig.
Subsequently, he received a flopping violation, and in objection to the call, Young expressed his disagreement by making a “money” gesture, involving rubbing his fingers together. This gesture was considered objectionable by the league.
The Hawks, trailing 120-111 at the time of the incident, ultimately lost the game with a final score of 136-126.
