NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has appointed Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes and Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young as injury replacements for the Eastern Conference team in the upcoming 2024 NBA All-Star Game. The duo steps in for Joel Embiid and Julius Randle.

Barnes secures his first NBA All-Star selection after showcasing remarkable growth in his third season, boasting career-high averages of 20.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game in 50 appearances.

Meanwhile, Young earns his third All-Star nod in just six NBA seasons. This season, he’s averaging 27.3 points, 10.9 assists, and 1.47 steals per game over 45 contests.

Embiid and Randle will miss the All-Star Game due to injuries. Embiid is sidelined with a lateral meniscus injury in his left knee, while Randle is nursing a dislocated right shoulder.

As both were initially selected as a starter and a reserve, respectively, Doc Rivers, the Eastern Conference head coach from Milwaukee, will have the responsibility of selecting a replacement for Embiid in the starting lineup from the East roster.
