The Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks are engaged in discussions over a potential trade involving Bobby Portis and Grant Williams, according to league sources familiar with the matter.

Report from Marc Stein’s Substack reveals that both teams have explored the possibility of swapping Portis, a key contributor for the Bucks, with Williams, who joined the Mavericks last summer from the Boston Celtics on a lucrative contract.

Williams, aged 25, arrived in Dallas as a restricted free agent, securing a four-year deal worth $53 million. Despite his promising potential, the Mavericks are reportedly open to parting ways with Williams as they assess their roster needs ahead of the trade deadline.

In the current NBA season, Williams is averaging 8.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

On the other hand, Portis, aged 28, with two more years remaining on his contract, valued at $48.6 million, provides stability and experience to the Bucks’ frontcourt rotation.

This season, Portis is averaging 12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1 assist in 23.7 minutes per game.
