The New York Knicks, currently positioned fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 32-18 record, are actively exploring options to enhance their roster before the trade deadline. Among their targets is P.J. Washington of the Charlotte Hornets, a player who has long piqued the Knicks’ interest as they consider potential moves to bolster their lineup.

According to insights from Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Knicks have demonstrated genuine interest in acquiring Washington as they meticulously evaluate their trade options.

While the Hornets power forward remains on their radar, the Knicks are also considering other targets, including Toronto guard Bruce Brown Jr. However, any potential deal for Brown Jr. may require the Knicks to part ways with a first-round pick, as per the Raptors’ preferences.

Reports suggest that the Knicks are exercising caution in their approach to trade negotiations, particularly regarding the inclusion of promising young talent like Quentin Grimes.

Sources indicate that the Knicks are reluctant to trade Grimes unless it results in a substantial upgrade for their roster. The team values Grimes and is not inclined to trade him for a mere rotational player.

Washington, 25, presents an intriguing option for the Knicks, given his versatile skill set and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor.

With two more years remaining on his current three-year, $46.5 million contract, Washington could provide the Knicks with a long-term solution to bolster their frontcourt depth and add scoring potency to their lineup.

This season, Washington is averaging 13.8 points per game, along with 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists, in 29.2 minutes of playing time.
