The Los Angeles Lakers are standing firm on their commitment to guard Austin Reaves, signaling their reluctance to part ways with the emerging talent. Recent reports suggest that the Lakers value Reaves even more than D’Angelo Russell in ongoing trade discussions.

NBA insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic shed light on the Lakers’ stance, revealing a potential scenario in which they might consider trading Reaves.

Buha explained, “The Lakers would quickly reject this deal. They have no interest in trading Reaves. The exception would be in a deal for a clear-cut third All-Star, with a name like Lauri Markannen being the only player of that ilk potentially available on the trade market (and an unrealistic option for the Lakers, to be clear).”

While trade talks may be prevalent in the NBA, the Lakers seem determined to hold onto Reaves unless a significant opportunity arises.

This season, Reaves has been a standout performer for the Lakers, averaging 14.9 points, 4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 30.5 minutes per game.
