Jrue Holiday’s initial half-season with the Boston Celtics has exceeded expectations, with both his strong performance and the team boasting the NBA’s best record. Holiday expressed his desire for the positive relationship to extend beyond the current season.

“I’d like to be here,” Holiday told MassLive. “I feel like I’m getting more and more comfortable, loving the guys, loving the organization and loving the city.”

Holiday has one remaining season on his contract, which includes a player option. He becomes extension-eligible with the Boston Celtics in early April.

Despite the upcoming decision, Holiday is not concerned about negotiating a new contract during the season, emphasizing that his previous extension was completed in-season.

He also highlighted the stability of Boston’s core, suggesting that the team is positioned to keep its key players together for an extended period.

“I think everybody kind of knows we’re set and we’re set for a long period,” Holiday said. “No matter what happens, you are going to come back here with the same guys for the most part.

“Things happen but I think you lock into that, being able to have that comfortability and just kind of that pressure off of you about what’s next.”
